PulseLyrics is committed to protecting your privacy. This app does not collect personal information that identifies you. We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand app usage and improve quality, but all data is anonymized and aggregated.
1. Information We Access
To provide you with lyrics display functionality, PulseLyrics requires access to the following information on your device:
1.1 Apple Music Library Access
- What We Access: Currently playing song information including song title, artist name, album name, and artwork
- Why We Need It: To identify which song you're listening to and fetch corresponding lyrics
- How It's Used: This information is only used locally on your device to match and display lyrics
- Data Storage: No music library data is uploaded to external servers
2. Analytics and Crash Reporting
To improve app quality and user experience, we use Google Firebase services:
2.1 Firebase Analytics
- What We Collect: Anonymous usage statistics including:
- Device model and operating system version
- General geographic location (country/region level only)
- App usage patterns (e.g., features used, session duration)
- App launch events and feature interactions
- Why We Collect It: To understand which features are used, identify trends, and improve app performance
- What We DON'T Collect:
- ❌ Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
- ❌ Specific song titles, artists, or your music listening history
- ❌ Precise GPS location data
- ❌ Your IP address (anonymized by Firebase)
- Data Retention: Analytics data is automatically deleted after 14 months
- Third Party: Data is processed by Google Firebase in accordance with Firebase Privacy Policy
2.2 Firebase Crashlytics
- What We Collect: When the app crashes, we collect:
- Crash logs and stack traces
- Device state at the time of crash (memory usage, battery level, etc.)
- A randomly generated installation UUID (not linked to your identity)
- Why We Collect It: To identify and fix bugs quickly, ensuring app stability
- Privacy Protection: Crash reports are stripped of any personal information before transmission
2.3 Your Control
While we cannot currently disable Firebase services within the app, you can:
- Use iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share iPhone Analytics to limit data sharing
- Block network access to Firebase through iOS Content & Privacy Restrictions
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be absolutely clear about what we don't do:
- ❌ We do not collect your personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- ❌ We do not track specific songs you listen to or store your music library contents
- ❌ We do not share any data with third-party advertisers
- ❌ We do not use advertising IDs or track you across other apps
- ❌ We do not require user accounts or registration
- ❌ We do not sell your data to anyone
4. Local Data Storage
4.1 Lyrics Cache
- Downloaded lyrics are cached locally on your device to improve performance and reduce network usage
- Cached data is stored in the app's container and shared app group (for widgets and Live Activities)
- Cache is automatically cleaned up based on age and storage limits
- You can clear the cache by deleting and reinstalling the app
4.2 App Preferences
- User settings and preferences are stored locally using UserDefaults
- This data never leaves your device
5. Permissions Required
PulseLyrics requires the following iOS permissions to function:
5.1 Media Library Permission
Required to access information about the currently playing song from Apple Music or other music apps. Without this permission, the app cannot identify which song is playing.
6. Data Security
- Most data processing occurs locally on your device
- Analytics and crash data is transmitted securely over HTTPS to Firebase servers
- Firebase employs industry-standard security measures to protect data
- App data is protected by iOS sandbox security mechanisms
7. Children's Privacy
PulseLyrics does not knowingly collect any personal information from users of any age. The app is suitable for all ages and does not contain user-generated content or social features. Anonymous analytics data collected through Firebase does not contain any personally identifiable information.
8. Widgets and Live Activities
PulseLyrics includes Home Screen widgets and Live Activities (Dynamic Island) features:
- These features share data using App Groups within your device
- No data is transmitted outside your device for widget functionality
- Lyrics displayed in widgets and Live Activities are sourced from the same local cache
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
10. Your Rights and Control
You have control over the app's access to your data:
- You can revoke media library access at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy > Media & Apple Music
- You can limit analytics data sharing through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements
- You can disable network access through iOS Settings or by using airplane mode
- You can delete all app data by uninstalling the application
